OTHER NEWS We have been making changes to our link strategy and some people have questions about it. You can see Morgan's post on the Facebook page or email him with questions: [email protected].

OTHER NEWS NEW WEEKLY COLUMN
Next Monday, we will be launching a new weekly column asking for contributions about your first sale. So if you are interested in participating, please write up a 400ish word post in WordPress and then email me the link or URL. As you write, think about if there were any mistakes you made, what you learned, if anything funny or crazy happened and what it took to close the deal. I think this will be an excellent column, and I look forward to reading your submissions. SCHEDULING I finally can announce that we are going with a new scheduling system. We are scrapping the Google Calendar altogether. From now on, when you submit a story, you will get an email from me saying that I have received your story and that I'll get back to you with feedback or next steps. I'll try my best to let you know when that will be, but crazy things happen in publishing from time to time. Then when I send you a date with next steps, I will do my best to keep it on that day. If it happens to change, as it will occasionally, it will get published in the next 48 hours. I will do my best to email you with those changes if they are dramatic -- as in several days or a different week entirely. We recently have started using a new WordPress plugin that allows us to make a post in the Inman Contributors Facebook group when the story goes live, which will serve as a notification system that your story has published. With that said, if you are not in that group, please request to join, and I'll admit you. This is really great news overall because hopefully this will cut down on email interaction about story scheduling, and I'll be able to get answers to you all much quicker and with better feedback. With that in mind, when you send stories, please dot the i's and cross the t's when you submit -- meaning please include takeaways and click-to-tweets if possible. Takeaways are just three one-sentence items that summarize the story's key points. I will likely not schedule stories without takeaways and send back an email requesting them. I greatly appreciate your help on this and so do your fellow contributors. Welcome to all the new contributors and congrats to the new contribs who published their first stories this week. OTHER NEWSSTORY SUBMISSIONS
If you have turned in new or revised stories to me in the past few days, I'm working on getting feedback out by Thursday. I prioritized the revised stories first and then the new ones. Thanks to everyone for being so patient as we caught up after ICNY. ATTENTION 3-D PEEPS We are making a slight change in the 3-D submission process. We are changing up our criteria a bit. So if you have a 3-D listing you'd like to submit, it must either be in one of our Local markets (Miami, New York, DC, LA, San Francisco, Chicago or Houston), or it must be a luxury listing ($10 million+). If you have already spoken to me about a listing that is coming and does not meet this criteria, no worries, I'll get you taken care of, but after that, we'll be sticking to the aforementioned criteria. Thanks for all your help with that. SCHEDULING I've mentioned in the past that we are about to start a new scheduling system -- and we are! I will have more details on that next week. Thanks for your patience as we are growing and changing. CONTRIBUTOR PROFILES If you are interested in being profiled on this newsletter, just shoot me an email at [email protected], and I'll send you further instructions. Thanks. Welcome to all the new contributors and congrats to the new contribs who published their first stories this week. Here they are:
OTHER NEWS I'm still working on getting stories feedbacked and scheduled. I appreciate your patience. I know it's been a long road coming back from #ICNY, but I have not forgotten about you. We have just had a lot of timely content come in the past few weeks.
On a more exciting note, we are testing a new schedule system that should make it much easier to keep track of your stories, and you won't get a ton of emails from me with updates because it will automatically update. We are still figuring out the best ways to implement, so more on that later. And Happy Valentine's Day! Welcome to all the new contributors and congrats to the new contribs who published their first stories this week. Here they are:
OTHER NEWSAs you all know #ICNY was last week. It was amazing. I speak for the entire Inman staff when I say we enjoyed meeting all of you who were able to attend. Thank you for coming, and we hope to see you in August at #ICSF. For those of you who weren't able to attend, the videos will be posted online shortly -- some of them are already up.
By the way, Inman Connect San Francisco is Aug. 2-5. We hope to see you there, not just because it's our thing, but because it's so informative, and it's a blast. Just ask our ambassadors. Also, I know you all have been working really hard to send in those contributions. Due to ICNY and follow-up content, we are a little backed up on content, and we are working hard to get back to you on email and with scheduling and feedback. I greatly appreciate your contributions and will be getting back to you by the end of the week. Thanks for your patience. |
