I constantly find myself looking up grammar rules -- because let's be honest, there are a million and only really special people know all of them (shout out to my grad school grammar professor!). So here are a few of my favorite sites.

We all want more eyes on our content, right?
The Inman audience is vast, but oftentimes contributor content is relevant far beyond our sphere. One simple way to reach a broader audience is to post your content on your personal social media channels -- you know your friends, family and colleagues are excited to read your posts! Here are a few simple tips: POST DURING PEAK HOURS When do you typically go on Facebook? Maybe it's during your lunch break or on the bus ride home from the office. Between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. are great time frames to post because you'll get the most viewers. ADD A BRIEF DESCRIPTION Just like when you click on a post on Facebook or Google, you read the short bit of copy that explains to you what you can expect from reading the post. Write a short sentence or two of what your audience is going to get out of reading your post. ENCOURAGE ENGAGEMENT We are so lucky at Inman to have a crew of commenters and collaborators who keep the discussion going on a lot of our posts. You can have the same experience using Facebook! You can ask for feedback, others' best practices, key takeaways, etc. POST REGULARLY Although you might not be writing a new post everyday, you want to be engaging with your community regularly. Is a new restaurant opening in the area you cover? Is community meetup taking place to discuss a hot-button topic? Did you read something interesting about your neighborhood? Share it! You’ve all heard about Inman Local, but do you ever wonder how the coverage is different? Sure, Inman Local covers seven specific metros and their respective real estate news, but when it comes to you guys (our stellar contributors), the process is a little different.
If you are a contributor in Chicago, DC, Houston, Miami, NYC, Los Angeles or San Francisco, you’re eligible to write for Inman Local. Here are a few tips to slant your content to target your specific local audience. READ THE NEWSPAPER Whether it’s a physical copy or digital edition, a newspaper is still the gateway to what’s happening in your local area. Stay on top of local trends that may not be directly related to real estate, but will impact it. Are city planners adding new bike lanes to a neighborhood? Is a new retail development going to be under construction? Is the local park getting a makeover? GET OUT AND MINGLE What better way to be in the know than to talk to other people in your community? Head to an art gallery opening, museum, sporting event, music festival or community meetup. While we’re on the subject, why not share your favorite museum, coffee shop, restaurant or music venue with the rest of the real estate community on Inman? You may have had luck finding leads at these places, so share your experience. BREAK DOWN A NATIONAL STORY National stories can have a specific impact on your local market-- and you can be the person to bring it all home. Consider how the national news will impact your day-to-day business specifically. Need help making a national story more relevant to your local audience?
