OK, now it's time to test what we've learned. List the second and third principle parts of the verbs -- that's the past and past participle of the verbs below. Remember some of these will be irregular, so you will decide wither the verb is regular (ending in -ed or -d) or if they are irregular. Good luck. (You can use the dictionary if you need to.) Hint: Fort he past participle verbs, think "I have ____."

EXERCISE 2
Now, list the correct verb choice from the options in the parenthesis. Make sure the subject and verb are in agreement. This is vital in grammar, and one of the most difficult to master.
1. Over the years, many Halloween costumes (was made, were made) in hopes of winning costume competitions.
2. Last year, my friend Kristen won her company's costume contest. She (builded, built) a handmade Christmas tree that fit around her body, and it even had battery-powered lights.
3. Just a few years ago, the first nonstop transatlantic broom flight (was taken, was took) by several witches on their way to Transylvania for a Halloween party at Dracula's castle.
4. The witches (bring, brought, brung) a cauldron of eye of newt stew and some Bloody Mary mix for their host -- it's only polite to bring a gift.
5. Dracula (had have, has had) many parties in the past, but he only just met the witches at ICNY -- he's quite the networker.
6. Dracula (is knowed, is known) as the top broker in Transylvania, and he's recently opened franchises on Elm Street, at Camp Crystal Lake and in Geneva, where Frankenstein is his biggest competition.
7. Countless well-known characters (has took, has taken, have took, have taken) part in these parties including the boogie man, who's an amazing dancer, Casper and Freddie Krueger.
8. Innumerable Uber drivers (have gone, have went) to the castle to cart guests home safely.
9. All the preparation (has been did, has been done) to ready for this year's monster mash.
The answers to both exercises are in the post below. Congratulations! You have competed the first section on verbs. Next week we'll talk about complements and verb completion. Have an amazing weekend and a happy Halloween!
Here's a little grammar joke for you: Why is it illegal for three witches to travel together? Because then you couldn't tell which witch is which.
