As writers, we all need to be aware of cliches in our work. We don't want our work to be redundant or derivative. We want our fresh and knowledgable voices to shine through our in our work.
So I did a little digging, and I came up with a couple of resources for you including the video below. Apparently, this video was made as a final project for an advanced grammar class. It's pretty in depth about what cliches are, and it gives tons of examples -- plus an exercise. |
"A cliché is any expression, idea, or element that has been overused to the point of losing its original intent or effect. There are the obvious clichés, namely those turns of phrase that get used over and over (whoops, that was cliché).
