OTHER NEWS
• Just a little update, everyone has been great at turning in content this week, and I have a ton to schedule. I will be scheduling everything by tomorrow evening. If you don't hear from me by Sunday, and you have content out there, please feel free to shoot me an email and check in. Thanks for all your hard work. I can't express how much I appreciate it.
• Have you heard the chatter about Inman's newest content offering? Still wondering what you can expect from it? Here's the primer you've been waiting for: Starting November 2, Inman is offering localized content in six markets. Read "Inman Local 101: Here's what to expect from our next big initiative."
• As we have been talking about for months, we are stepping up our game, and that means the contributors too. We are looking for fresh content because our readers crave it.
Before writing anything, I encourage you to "check the archives" or RTFP (read the effing paper) as we say in journalism.
As part of stepping up our game, we will be looking at a more stringent criteria when accepting stories. The first of which will be fresh content that says something new on the topic.
If you story is rejected, it doesn't mean it isn't good. It simply means we've covered it, and I'd encourage you to check the archives, edit and resubmit.
Also, I need to be sure that a research cited is linked.
To give you an idea of the process, I will give stories an initial read to determine whether it's for us or not. I'll then give you feedback or a publishing date. Then closed to that publishing date, I'll give it another read. And then Amber (voice of all knowledge and experienced reason) will read it again. During any of these reads, we might send it back and ask for something more.
We want to be more thorough because we want the best RE content out there.
As a result of doing so many reads, our editorial calendar might change. So if I give you a date, please check the contributors lineup on the Google calendar that you should be shared on. If you don't have access, please let me know, and I will remedy the situation.
I couldn't be more proud of our program. I couldn't be more sure that y'all will rise to the occasion. And most of all, I couldn't be more excited to see what you come up with. Keep up the good work y'all.
