Editorial process change
Lately you have probably noticed that it's taking a little longer to get feedback on your stories after you submit them. It's because, as part of my dedication to making sure we are publishing the best content possible, I have changed my editorial process. Here's a rundown of the new process:
So generally, you will put an article on WP and then email me to let me know and give me the title or link so I can find your story. After I receive the email, I will ALWAYS email to confirm that I have it and have added it to my list. As soon as I possibly can (depending on workflow and the number of contributions I have on the list) I will read the article and give you either feedback for revisions or publishing information. This can take a week or two based on previously mentioned factors.
If I give you a publishing date, it is always subject to change, but you can follow the story through the publishing process on the "Contributors Lineup," which you are shared on via Google calendars (let me know if you need me to share the calendar with you). After that I will edit and publish the story accordingly, and it will post on our site.
Once it is published on Inman, you are welcome to publish on your blog or website. In fact, you are welcome to email and ask me for the edited version or to copy and paste it from our site. I'm always happy to help, and why not take advantage of professionally edited content?
Want to influence how people searching Inman can find your stories? Add tags!
Here’s how:
There is a box on WordPress to the right of the text box called "Tags." All you have to do is enter the words that one might search on Google to find your story. This will likely include all proper nouns plus your name and "real estate."
Visual future
One other thing I wanted to mention is that we have a new creative services manager, Astrid Storey. As a result of her creative genius and ability, you might notice that a lot more contributor stories have amazing graphics and inline images.
We are working hard to conspire and come up with images and visual for almost every contributor post, so we want to invite you to be part of the collaboration.
If you have ideas on how we might spice up your post, don't hesitate to drop me a line when you notify me that you have a post ready. Thanks guys. I'm so excited about our growth and how great our posts are looking.
