OTHER NEWS
You might have noticed that our story pages have changed a little bit. We have new options for images. Sometimes you will see full images in the posts and sometimes you will notice a texture instead. The final image decision rests on Astrid Storey our creative service manager.
You will also notice that our takeaways, categories and related stories look different on the page. Takeaways are a vital component in our stories. I would like you all to please put them at the top of your stories because it helps craft a clearer narrative and because we want you to have as much creative control over your story as possible.
With that said, I also invite you to fill out categories, which have moved to the bottom of the story page now. Also I would encourage you to fill out tags (any proper nouns, keywords and your name). Click-to-tweets look a little different on the page now. Again, I'd encourage you to add CTTs at will. Our pull quotes look a little different now as well.
You will notice that related stories have moved to the right side of the story page without images rather than the bottom with images. We also have the capability to create slideshows, so if you have the desire to create a slideshow, just let me know, and we can work through it.
With all of this change, we are also developing a style guide that will help us maintain consistency. We will make this available to you when it's ready. It will be an on-going project, and it will change on an as-needed basis.
I'm so excited about the new features and style, and I hope you are, too. If you have any questions or feedback, don't hesitate to ask.
WHAT SAY YOU?
We are curious if you all have any feedback for us. If you have any feedback about the newsletter or any other processes, please feel free to let us know.
We are specifically curious about what we could do to make our contributors Facebook page better, more useful and more fun. What can we do differently? Would y'all be interested in doing "Ask the editors" or "Ask the writers" live chat sessions? Would you like to see more interaction from each other?
Please email and let me know your thoughts. We want to do everything we can to be useful and helpful for you.
