This week's contributor profile is Jimmy Burgess. Check out his work on his Inman profile. I had a little q-and-a session with him, and here is what he had to say: JIMMY'S INMAN BIO Over the past 20 years I've ridden the roller coaster of life as a real estate agent. Bouncing back from the market meltdown led me to write the Amazon #1 Best Seller "What Just Happened? How to Bounce Back in Life So You Can Do More, Be More, and Have More." I now give real estate agents easy-to-follow action steps that help them generate a tsunami of leads at my website | How long have you been a contributor? I've only been a contributor for a few months. What made you want to contribute? I love to write and am a contributor for other sites like The Huffington Post and Entrepreneur. I have been a Realtor for 20 years, and Inman gives me the ability to marry two of my passions. What has been your favorite article to write so far? "5 Facebook posts that are killing your business" has been one of my favorite articles to write. Facebook ads and posting are a big part of my sales business and one of the key lead generation strategies I teach my coaching clients. I cringe when I see agents post certain things. The article gave me the ability to say what was driving me crazy and hopefully help some agents as well. What has been your favorite piece of feedback so far? There's not one in particular. It is the culmination of all the comments that say thank you or this really helped me. What do you do in your spare time? My wife and I have three children that keep us happily busy. What is your passion? My second passion, after family, is that I love public speaking. Writing can be one-dimensional, but when you speak, the passion in your voice comes through. When you look out over an audience and you feel that connection, maybe you see an emotional tear slowly roll down a person's cheek or a genuine laugh -- that is my greatest addiction. I can't get enough of it. What advice would you give to other aspiring real estate professionals? Consistently take massive action. This is an if- than business. If you consistently prospect and give great service, then you will get results. It is going to take longer than you think, and it will be harder than what you think, but results will follow. What advice would you give to new contributors? Write, write, write. Write about what you know. Write about what you love. Write about ways people can improve. I believe with all my heart the old Zig Ziglar mantra, "If you can help enough other people get what they want, you will get what you want." Helping others through your writing will not return void. The more you help others, the more you will ultimately help yourself. |
