This week's contributor profile is Bud Clark. Check out his work on his Inman profile. I had a little q-and-a session with him, and here is what he had to say: BUD'S INMAN PROFILE Bud Clark is the Executive Vice President and Managing Broker for Willis Allen Real Estate, a privately owned real estate brokerage with multiple offices in San Diego’s most affluent communities. He supports Francis Parker School, Friends of the UCSD Libraries, La Jolla Museum of Contemporary Art, La Jolla Music Society, The Athenaeum Music & Arts Library and South Coast Repertory Theatre. In addition to his real estate activities, Clark enjoys reading, gardening, running, the arts and anything in the kitchen. | How long have you been a contributor? Five months -- I think. What made you want to contribute? I enjoy writing and expressing another viewpoint, AKA my own. What has been your favorite article to write so far? "Why #ICNY is forging the information technology frontier" What has been your favorite piece of feedback so far? Haha, clearly that Inman would publish my thoughts on real estate. What do you do in your spare time? Spare time, uh, exactly what is that? What is your passion? Change, in that change is a constant that must be recognized, accepted and acted upon -- there are no exceptions only opportunities. What advice would you give to other aspiring real estate professionals? Aside from the familiar, time-honored advice, agents new and seasoned should be themselves. Just as there is diversity all around us, it follows that the same is true in real estate -- for clientele and agents. Success is focusing on relationships with like-minded buyers and sellers. What advice would you give to new contributors? Avoid always writing what is expected, instead write about your own thoughts and experiences. There's no downside or risk, and the more disruptive, the greater the value because learning what not to do is equally important as learning what to do. |
